Kidder go joint top with Knowle

Kidderminster and Knowle & Dorridge are joint leaders of the Birmingham League as the only two teams to have started the summer with two straight wins.

Kidder went top with a four-run victory over fellow Worcestershire side Barnt Green, bowled out for 184 (Arfan Khan 4-53) in reply to Kidder's 188.

Meanwhile, K&D beat Wolverhampton by eight wickets at Danescourt.

Chris Brook hit 67 as Wolves were shot out for 146, but Luke Parker (52 no) and David Smith (51 no) eased K&D home.

The game of the day was a run feast at Leamington Spa where the home side earned a winning draw against Himley.

Young Warwickshire Academy batsman Tom Lewis hit 146, supported by a stunning 91 not out from just 59 balls by Luke Radford as Leamington piled up 299-7.

The pair on 172 for the seventh wicket, after rescuing their team, from trouble on 98-6.

Himley then responded valiantly, Chris Tranter hitting 102 and skipper Greg Wright 69 to finish not that far short on 267-9.

Champions Walsall's winning start was ended by newly-promoted Shrewsbury, who hung on for a draw at London Road.

Mo Sheikh's unbeaten 46 held things together in Walsall's 173-9, Elliott Green taking 4-50.

But home skipper Ed Foster then led by example, hitting an unbeaten 82 to save Shrewsbury from defeat on 157-7.

The other promoted side Bromsgrove remain unbeaten, this time securing a winning draw at home to Moseley.

Worcestershire's Alexei Kervezee top scored with 60 as Bromsgrove ran up 238-9, Moseley's Freddie Eburah taking 6-53.

Huw Jones then hit 71 as Mose replied with 197-8, Nick Husbands taking 6-54.

Kenilworth Wardens' James Jordan secured a second Man of the Match award in successive games, taking 6-43 as Walmley made 189.

But, despite Alistair Wilkinson then hitting 74, it was only enough to earn a losing draw at Eldon Drive as Wardens replied with 168 -8, Hamza Nadeem taking 5-42.
