A radio documentary looking at England's successful Ashes tour to Australia in 1986-7.

England arrived as underdogs, having failed to win any of their previous 11 Tests. Crucially, though, Ian Botham was in form and his 138 in the First Test (with four straight driven sixes) set up a seven wicket win for England.

Confidence suddenly returned and there were centuries for Chris Broad, David Gower and wicketkeeper Jack Richards in the drawn Second Test at Perth.

Left-hander Broad scored centuries in three successive Tests, form which earned him the 'International Player of the Season' award. Most importantly, it earned England an innings victory in the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne and the Ashes were retained.

Dean Jones scored an unbeaten 184 in the final Test at Sydney, but Australia's 55-run win in that match was merely a consolation. Who could have predicted that England would have to wait another 18 years to win the Ashes again?
