The Isle of Man cricket team will prepare for this summer's European Cricket Championship with a three-day tour of Yorkshire. The Manx squad will embark on the pre-season tour in April and will play, Leeds Metropolitan University, Doncaster Town and Eckington. Manager Gareth Dawson said: "We've been working hard all winter and the tour will help me assess our progress. "It will also give the lads vital experience on grass wickets." The ECC Division Three tournament is being held in La Manga, Spain from 31 August when the Manx team will compete against Belgium, Malta, Israel, Portugal and Spain. The competition will be played in a round-robin format with the winners facing a play-off with Croatia for promotion into Division Two in 2010. Dawson added: "2009 is a massive year for Manx cricket and our preparation has to be spot on if we want to achieve our goals."
