Former Gloucestershire and England all-rounder Mark Alleyne has been appointed MCC head coach. The 40-year-old, who has also coached Gloucestershire, succeeds Clive Radley, who is retiring after a 48-year association with Lord's. Alleyne's new job involves overseeing the MCC Young Cricketers and developing coaching structures throughout the MCC. He will take up the post in April, leaving his current post as coach of England's under-15s. Alleyne made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire in 1986 and remained at the county for his entire playing career, coaching them from 2004 to 2007.  | 606: DEBATE |
His seven years as captain brought much success and, in 2000, he won the Wisden Cricketer of the Year award. National honours came in the form of 10 one-day internationals and captaincy of the England 'A' team on two tours. He was awarded an MBE for Services to Cricket in 2001. As well as his role with the under-15s, he is currently is a specialist coach at the National Performance Centre in Loughborough and chairman of the Professional Cricket Coaches Association.
