South Africa one-dayer abandoned

Rain falls on the covers at Buffalo Park
Huge puddles formed on all over the Buffalo Park ground

Heavy rain ensured the third and final one-day international between South Africa and Bangladesh was abandoned.

The outfield in East London had been drenched by overnight downpours, which did not relent on Wednesday morning.

And umpires Marais Erasmus and Nigel Llong decided to call the day/night match off one hour before the start.

The outcome means South Africa take the series 2-0 as focus now shifts towards the two-Test series, which begins in Bloemfontein on 19 November.

With the final match washed out, South Africa batsman Hashim Amla was named as man of the series, having scored 35 and 140 in the two ODIs that were possible.
