Glamorgan moved up to second place in Division Two of Pro40 League Two with a 50-run win over Derbyshire.

The visitors failed to get used to the slow pitch and struggled against bowlers Alex Wharf and Robert Croft as they chased 206 to win.

Wharf took 3-39 including the wicket of dangerman Wavell Hinds, while Croft recorded figures of 2-19.

Earlier, Jamie Dalrymple (54) and Mark Wallace (58) helped the home side recover from 36-4 to make 205-8.

Wharf, Croft and Australian Jason Gillespie were responsible for frustrating Derbyshire in the opening overs.

Things started to go wrong for the Phantoms in the third over when Dan Birch was caught at point off Gillespie.

Wharf then claimed the wickets of Chris Rogers (23), caught by Wallace from a top edge, and Hinds (4), who edged behind.

Dan Redfern made 28 before he was trapped lbw by Croft before Dean Cosker brilliantly caught and bowled Greg Smith in the next over.

John Sadler (31) tried to spark a fightback, but after Tom New was stumped off the bowling of Croft, it was all but over.

It was a very different story at the start of the match when the Phantoms had reduced their hosts to 36-4.

But Ben Wright (26) and Dalrymple steadied the ship and kept the score ticking over with ones and twos before man-of-the-match Wallace came to the crease to give Glamorgan's total some respectability.
