Berkshire's cricketers will return to Lord's to contest the MCCA Cup final against Devon after comfortably beating Oxfordshire at Banbury.

Set 246 to win from 50 overs, Berkshire were led to victory by David Barnes' 79 not out, and Mitchell Stokes with 56.

Berkshire captain Bjorn Mordt told BBC Radio Berkshire: "We were the better team, we bowled and batted perfectly.

"It was a 280 wicket and we kept them to 245. Then it was a simple case of building partnerships."

Mordt added: "Mitchell set us up perfectly and from then on it was a one-horse race.

Mordt paid particular tribute to opener Barnes whose innings was all the more remarkable given that he was hit in the face with an opening-ball beamer.

"He could quite easily have bottled it and said 'I'm off' but the guy went right through it," Mordt added. "He wanted to be there at the end and he was.

The vocal encouragement that Berkshire received also gave the team a boost.

"You wouldn't find a crowd like this at a first-class game," Mordt added. "They were fantastic - it was awesome to have that sort of support."

And Berkshire coach Tim Dellor said: "If the singing at the end of the game is anything to go by, I think it's safe to say the boys are pretty pleased with the win!

"It's going to be a very special day for the team to be at Lord's.

"Some of them were there when we won the cup in 2004 so know what it's like. We'll enjoy the day but we're determined to beat Devon."
