Gibbs has been playing in the Twenty20 Cup for Glamorgan

South African opener Herschelle Gibbs is the latest player to sign up for Shropshire's annual Twenty20 event.

Gibbs, who once scored six sixes in an over for South Africa in a World Cup tie against the Netherlands, will play for the Lashings World XI in Telford.

Twenty20 organiser Bryan Jones told BBC Radio Shropshire: "It's a big signing for us."

The Lashings World XI line up with Shropshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire at Wrekin College on 10 July.

And Jones added: "With big hitters like Gibbs I'm sure the excitement of our previous Twenty20 days will be repeated."

The first semi-final will start at 1030 BST.
