Oswestry finally notched a first-ever Birmingham League win, beating local rivals Whitchurch by 21 runs. Warrick Fynn's third century of the season (114) took Oswestry to 245-7. In reply, Whitchurch got to 224 (Simon Gregory 100, Mark Robinson 4-79). In the Premier, Shifnal lost at home to Kidderminster, who knocked up 202-7, then shot their hosts out for 123. In Division One, Shrewsbury were frustrated as Sutton Coldfield held on for an unlikely draw on 155-8. There were solid contributions for from Wayne Merrick (53 not out), Reece O'Connell (44) and Ed Foster (40) in Shrewsbury's 208-9. But, in reply, the Sutton tailenders held out for the last 10 overs. Wellington went down at home to Stratford, mustering only 91 before their opponents knocked that off for the loss of just two wickets. St Georges were knocked off the top of Division Two thanks to a seven-wicket defeat at home to promotion rivals Smethwick at Church Street. After bowling out the Dragons for just 93, Smethwick strolled to victory on 97-3 to go second in the table behind new leaders Penn, St Georges dropping to third. Aston Manor struggled to 130 all out at Newport, who then fancied their chances of success. But Newport had no answer to some fierce Manor bowling and were skittled for a measly 37. In Division Three, Bridgnorth followed Oswestry to victory with a six-wicket win at home to Fordhouses. The visitors made 220-9, Bridgnorth skipper Mark MacPherson-Lees taking 5-77. And an unbeaten 70 from Peter Thompson then saw the Shropshire side home.
