Shropshire claimed their first victory of the summer, beating Cumberland by 64 runs, thanks to an unbeaten 132 from professional John Maunders. They must win their final group game to be in with a chance of making the later stages of the MCCA Trophy. "We have to beat Bedfordshire, and then it'll all come down to run-rates," said county secretary Neville Birch. Maunders led Shropshire to 245-7, with three wickets from Andy Gray and Steve Taylor holding Cumberland to 181-9. "It was a very good innings from Maunders - he never looked like getting out," Birch told BBC Radio Shropshire.
