Mascarenhas is unsure if he has a future with England

Dimitri Mascarenhas's Indian Premier League debut was put on hold as he was left out of the Rajasthan Royals team which beat Kolkata Knight Riders.

Mascarenhas, 30, England's only representative in the IPL, arrived in India on Monday after captaining Hampshire during April.

The Royals, having won three of their first four matches, beat the Knight Riders by 45 runs on Thursday.

And with only four overseas players permitted, Mascarenhas was omitted.

The Hampshire all-rounder has signed a short-term deal with the franchise, who are captained and coached by the iconic bowler, Shane Warne.

606: DEBATE

Mascarenhas was involved in England's one-day side in the recent tour of New Zealand but has admitted his involvement in the IPL could hinder his international prospects.

The Royals used Warne, Graeme Smith, Shane Watson and Sohail Tanvir as their four internationals.

But the star performance came from Swapnil Asnodkar, the man from Goa thumping 60 from 34 balls.
