India cancel third England Test

England travel to India next winter

England are set to play only two Tests in India next winter because of scheduling problems.

India's fixture list has proved too busy to fit in a three-Test series as well as seven one-day internationals.

Indian authorities rejected proposals to cancel two one-dayers because of the popularity of the shorter format.

England, who arrive in India in early November, would prefer to play a third Test but are unwilling to extend their trip over Christmas.

Following September's ICC Trophy in Pakistan, India host world number ones Australia in a four-Test series, ahead of England's arrival.

England's other tour next winter takes place after Christmas in the Caribbean, where they expect to play a four-Test series.
