England are set to play only two Tests in India next winter because of scheduling problems. India's fixture list has proved too busy to fit in a three-Test series as well as seven one-day internationals. Indian authorities rejected proposals to cancel two one-dayers because of the popularity of the shorter format. England, who arrive in India in early November, would prefer to play a third Test but are unwilling to extend their trip over Christmas. Following September's ICC Trophy in Pakistan, India host world number ones Australia in a four-Test series, ahead of England's arrival. England's other tour next winter takes place after Christmas in the Caribbean, where they expect to play a four-Test series.
