Ricky Ponting's Australia beat West Indies to the 2006 title

Peter Moores' men were pooled alongside South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka in Group B for the one-day tournament.

Defending champions Australia have been paired with India in Group A, which also consists of Pakistan and 2006 runners-up West Indies.

The eight teams will play on a round-robin basis with the top two from each group progressing to the semi.

England will begin their campaign with a match against Sri Lanka in Karachi on 14 September.

Hosts Pakistan begin the tournament with a game against West Indies in Lahore on 11 September and top seeds Australia start their defence of the title against India in Lahore on 13 September, with the final in Lahore on September 28.

But before the tournament goes ahead there will be a full independent security assessment in Pakistan in June following the decision by Australia to postpone their tour because of safety fears.

Sri Lanka has been designated as a reserve host country.

Australia defeated the West Indies to take their maiden Champions Trophy title in 2006 in India, while West Indies beat hosts England in the 2004 final.
