Pollock stars as SA clinch series
One-day international, Johannesburg
South Africa 156-1 bt Pakistan 153 by nine wickets

Pollock belied his advancing years to set up a comfortable victory

Shaun Pollock's five-wicket haul set South Africa on their way to a nine- wicket victory in the fifth and final one-day international against Pakistan.

Pollock took 5-23 as Pakistan were bowled out for 153 with only Shoaib Malik (43no) making any impression.

South Africa lost captain Graeme Smith to his first ball but Jacques Kallis (71no) and AB de Villiers (71no) guided them home with over 21 overs to spare.

The win ensured they took the series 3-1, with one match rained off.

Pollock, 33, conceded just 23 runs from his 10 overs and his initial burst saw Pakistan struggling at 83-6.

Shoaib Malik organised some late resistance to help the tourists set some sort of total.

Pollock started his fine spell with a wicket maiden, having Mohammad Asif caught behind, and then removed key men Imran Nazir, Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf.

The veteran seamer's haul was completed when captain Inzamam-ul-Haq fended a short ball to second slip.

Pakistan's total never looked like being adequate and they were duly put to the sword by Kallis and De Villiers.

They came together at 1-1 and put on a new South African second-wicket record stand against Pakistan of 155.
