Law has scored well over 10,000 runs in the County Championship |
Stuart Law has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours List. The Lancashire batsman, now a British citizen, was recognised for his service to the sport in his native country.
Law captained Queensland to three successive championships - the first man to lead the state to title glory.
"I'm absolutely humbled by the whole thing. To be nominated three years after I left for the United Kingdom is staggering," the 38-year-old said.
"I'm touched that I'm still in their minds after being away for some time - I had some fantastic times with Queensland."
Law was considered unfortunate to play just one Test for Australia, making an unbeaten 54 in his only innings against Sri Lanka in 1995.

He was also recognised as a superb one-day player and featured in 54 ODIs for the Aussies.
The Brisbane-born stalwart moved to Essex in 1996 and played there for five seasons before joining Lancashire.
Lancs chairman Jack Simmons MBE said: "Stuart has worked hard for Queensland state for many years and deserves this award.
"It shows how much Queensland appreciates everything that he has done for the team and cricket in the state and we are all very proud of him."
