Kallis was often in defensive mode but played a vital innings |
South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis believes his team have a good chance of a Port Elizabeth win which would secure an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Kallis hit a patient 91 as South Africa set Pakistan a target of 191.
"We're happy with 191 and we believe we can defend it," he said, before admitting: "We wanted at least 200 so it's pretty much a minimum.
"If we get the ball in the right area it's not going to be easy chasing, we know what pressure batters are under."
Pakistan seamer Mohammad Asif had to send down 38 overs in the absence of hamstring victim Shoaib Akhtar, and took 5-76, his fourth five-wicket haul in only his eighth Test.
"It was difficult but it was something I had to do," he said. "I have bowled that many overs in domestic cricket before."
"We have a good chance and we hope we're going to win although it's difficult to say which team has the upper hand."
Asif observed that the wicket was keeping low but Kallis disagreed and remarked: "There has been a little bit of seam movement throughout the game though and I'm sure it will continue."
