Glenn McGrath believes Australia could achieve a feat never to be matched if they win their third World Cup in a row in the Caribbean in April.

McGrath, 36, who retires after the 2007 tournament, tasted glory in 1999 and 2003, along with current team-mates Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist.

He said: "To win the World Cup, three in a row, would be pretty amazing.

"It's something that may never be achieved again. Looking around our team it gives you so much confidence."

West Indies won the first two World Cup tournaments in 1975 and '79 but no other side has even won back-to-back events.

McGrath is likely to share the new ball with Nathan Bracken in the Commonwealth Bank Series, which starts with a match against England in Melbourne on Friday and also includes New Zealand.

He is aiming to replicate the unbeaten run of 2003 when this year's World Cup starts in March.

The New South Welshman said: "In the last World Cup, I felt we could go through unbeaten and we did that.

"I'll be approaching this one the same way."
