Dravid celebrates a proud moment with his son Samit |
India captain Rahul Dravid hailed his team's triumphant maiden Test victory on South African soil. "It's a credit to ourselves and to the nation," Dravid said. "I'm really proud of the team and the players who were not playing in this match."
Dravid praised Shanthakumaran Sreesanth for a match haul of 8-99 and added: "He has incredible ability and showed what disciplines in the right areas can do."
Looking ahead to the Boxing Day Test he said: "We know they'll come back hard."
Sreesanth collected the man-of-the-match award after recording his maiden five-wicket haul in only his sixth Test.
"If I can keep the basics right I think I can pick up more wickets," said the 23-year-old, who took 4-95 on his debut against England in March.

Former India all-rounder Ravi Shastri compared his latest return in Johannesburg favourably with any performance from an Indian bowler.
"That is an honour, especially from him, but it's all God's grace and I just have to keep working hard," Sreesanth said.
Dravid modestly played down the influence of his captaincy on his side's historic achivement.
"When your team backs you up with performances it reflects well on you but it's really all about the team, you can only do so much, so full credit to them.
"We deserve to enjoy this moment and our success and have a good time then get ready for the next one because we know there is a lot of cricket left."
The second of the three-Test series begins in Durban on 26 December.
