Razzaq poised to skipper Pakistan
One-day international, Multan: Pakistan v West Indies
Play starts 0600 GMT Wednesday

Abdul Razzaq
Razzaq is a veteran of 222 one-day appearances
All-rounder Abdul Razzaq is set to captain Pakistan in Wednesday's one-day game against West Indies in Multan.

They have been forced to turn to Razzaq because regular skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq, deputy Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf are all likely to miss the game.

Inzamam has had three stitches in a finger injury, Younis is still absent following the death of his brother and Yousuf's wife is ill.

Pakistan lead 2-0 and victory in Multan would seal the series.

They have called up Faisal Iqbal and Shahid Afridi to bolster their squad and both are expected to play.

Faisal, the nephew of former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad, is not surprising as he was also called up to replace Inzamam during the recent ICC Champions Trophy.

But he did not play in that tournament and it is over three years since he won the last of his 17 one-day caps.

Afridi was until recently one of the first names down on the team sheet and he will see his recall as a chance to cement a place again ahead of the World Cup.

"Afridi has done well in domestic cricket this week and the selectors felt he was the natural choice," a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman said.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Chanderpaul will add experience and quality for West Indies

West Indies, meanwhile, hope their batting line-up will be strengthened by the return of Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who has been struggling with a knee problem.

If fit to play, Chanderpaul is likely to resume the successful opening partnership with Chris Gayle which served the team so well at the recent Champions Trophy in India.

Coach Bennett King is looking for an improved performance in the field as they try to end the tour on a high note in Multan and the final game at Karachi.

"Obviously, from the previous match, our fielding has to improve. And we bowled some poor balls the other night, so we just want to focus it," he said.
