 Gayle hit three centuries in the tournament |
West Indies opener Chris Gayle has been awarded player of the tournament at the ICC Champions Trophy in India. He hit 474 runs with three centuries for the team beaten by Australia in the final, as well as taking eight wickets.
Sri Lanka's Upul Tharanga, who scored two centuries, came joint second with Australian batsman Damien Martyn.
The highest ranked bowler was New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori and the award was decided by tournament umpires who listed their top three players.
