Leicestershire's Stuart Broad was named the Young Cricketer of the Year at the Cricket Writers' Club Dinner in London. The 20-year-old, who was called into England's one-day squad this week, was the clear winner of the annual prize.
The fast bowler polled nearly three times as many votes as his nearest challenger - 2005 winner Alastair Cook.
Other players to receive votes were Lancashire's Tom Smith, Ravi Bopara of Essex, Durham's Liam Plunkett and Worcestershire's Steven Davies.
The son of former England opener Chris, Broad junior has taken 40 first-class wickets this season. In fact, he claimed four for 63 in Leicestershire's draw with Northamptonshire on Friday.
He follows in the footsteps of previous winners like Andrew Flintoff, Jimmy Anderson, Ian Bell and former Leicestershire player James Whitaker.
Candidates must be qualified for England and under 23 on 1 May of the given year.
Winners usually have a good chance of going on to play international cricket - previous holders of the award have now won 1,876 Test caps and claimed 1,005 one-day international caps for England.
