Kaif shines as India take control
Second Test, St Lucia, day two (stumps): India 588-8 dec v West Indies 65-3

Kaif became the third centurion in the India innings
Mohammad Kaif and Rahul Dravid claimed centuries as India dominated the West Indies on day two of the second Test.

Kaif, in his 11th Test, ended a long wait for his maiden Test ton after reaching 148 not out before India declared on an imposing 588-8.

He shared a fifth-wicket stand of 179 with Dravid, who fell for 146.

The home side, who need 389 to avoid the follow-on, suffered a triple blow, losing Daren Ganga, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Brian Lara to close on 65-3.

Munaf Patel took two wickets in successive balls with spinner Anil Kumble taking the scalp of Lara for seven.

First Patel had a delivery nip in on Ganga catching him lbw for 16, and then he had Sarwan out for a golden duck with an almost identical dismissal.

Opener Chris Gayle was the one batsman to stand firm, finishing the day on 34 not out.

Earlier, Dravid, Mahendra Dhoni and Irfan Pathan were all out caught at point or gully after loose cuts.

Part-time spinner Sarwan could not believe his luck as Dravid chased a delivery that barely bounced on the cut strip and was caught by Lara.

Kaif was rarely tempted to indulge but hooked a Sarwan full toss for four over midwicket - his 10th boundary - to reach three figures from 166 deliveries.

"If I keep doing the right thing, keep doing what has helped me in the West Indies, I think I can do it again and again," said Kaif.

"I have to keep concentrating and focusing the way I did it in this test match."
