 Mani says burn-out is a matter for cricket boards to manage |
Cricket chief Ehsan Mani has called on boards to manage their players properly to prevent burn-out. The president of the International Cricket Council said the Future Tours Programme has been extended from a five-year cycle to six years.
"Player workload is an issue that the ICC is concerned about. This is why the FTP was stretched," said Mani.
"But some boards have filled up the gap with extra series, when the idea was to provide players with a rest period."
Several top cricketers are suffering from over-use injuries and some players have criticised the ICC's decision to launch a Twenty20 tournament in 2009.
Mani confirmed the format for this year's Champions Trophy, being held in India in October and November.
England are in Group A with Australia, India and a qualifier and Group B consists of South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand and a qualifier.
The top two sides from each group will progress to the semis.
