McMillan has not played for New Zealand since the end of last year |
New Zealand have omitted Craig McMillan from their provisional 30-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy. The former Test batsman has been dropped because of a lack of fitness but coach John Bracewell said it did not signal the end of his career.
"This does not mean Craig has been ruled out of contention for next year's World Cup but he will need to focus his efforts if he is to be selected."
The squad, which will be cut to 14 by 7 September, has seven uncapped players.
They are seamer Mark Gillespie, spinner Nathan McCullum - brother of Test wicket-keeper Brendon, wicket-keeper Peter McGlashan, seamer Warren McSkimming, all-rounder Mark Orchard, batsman Jesse Ryder and seamer Bradley Scott.
There was a recall for 36-year-old Chris Harris despite the
all-rounder missing out on one of the 20 central
contracts announced by New Zealand Cricket earlier in the year.
