Fourth one-day international, Napier:
New Zealand 324-6 beat West Indies 233-8 Lou Vincent hit his second one-day international century |
Lou Vincent's 102 off 117 balls led New Zealand to another convincing win over West Indies in their one-day series.
Vincent, who hit a six and 10 fours, shared century stands with Stephen Fleming (67) and Nathan Astle (81)
And the Kiwis cruised home by 91 runs in Napier after totalling 324-6 and then restricting the tourists to 233-8 despite Runako Morton's unbeaten 110.
The victory in Napier gave them a 4-0 lead in the series, with one game left to play on Saturday.
It was always going to be tough for the visitors after Shivnarine Chanderpaul's decision to put the Black Caps in backfired, with Vincent and Fleming putting on 106 for the first wicket in less than 19 overs.
Skipper Fleming smashed 67 off only 59 balls, including four sixes and six fours, before he was caught behind chasing a wide one from Dwayne Smith, but Astle came to the crease to continue the onslaught.
The explosive 34-year-old scored his 81 from 88 balls, including three maximums, as he added 156 with Vincent before holing out on the boundary.

Vincent went on to complete his century, but even when he was caught at long-on off Chris Gayle with New Zealand on 274-3 in the 45th over, the Windies failed to stem the tide with Brendon McCullum adding 21 from only nine deliveries.
Gayle was the most successful bowler for the tourists with 3-50 off his 10 overs.
But he did not fare well with the bat, falling lbw to Kyle Mills for five in the third over.
Ramnaresh Sarwan hit 42 off only 40 balls in a 79-run stand with the impressive Morton, but his run-out prompted a collapse as the Windies lost six wickets for 96 runs.
Morton eventually reached three figures off 141 balls but it was the only positive note for West Indies, who are badly missing batting star Brian Lara.
Mills (3-45) was New Zealand's best bowler on the day as they wrapped up victory with 2.3 overs to spare, the visitors stumbling to 233-8.
