Pakistan celebrate after retaining the trophy they won two years ago |
Pakistan became the first side ever to retain the Under-19 World Cup, beating India by 38 runs in the Colombo final. Pakistan's chances seemed dim when they were bowled out for 109, with leg-spinner Piyush Chawla taking 4-8.
But India lost six wickets in putting nine runs on the board, pace man Anwar Ali taking three wickets in his first over on his way to figures of 5-35.
Chawla led a rearguard action with an unbeaten 25, but India were still bowled out in just 18.5 overs.
Fast bowler Akhtar Ayub claimed the last three wickets to spark celebrations in the Pakistan camp.
