Kallis to miss Aussie one-dayers
Kallis is ranked as the world's second-best Test batsman
South Africa expect Kallis to be fit for Australia's tour
South Africa's Jacques Kallis is to miss the start of the one-day series against Australia with an elbow injury but Makhaya Ntini and Andre Nel return.

Pace bowlers Ntini (knee) and Nel (foot) both missed large parts of the recent VB Series in Australia, where the Proteas failed to reach the finals.

"It is in our best interests that Kallis recovers fully before we bring he back," said selector Haroon Lorgat.

The one-day series starts on Sunday, two days after a Twenty20 game.

The squad has been named for the first three 50-over games in a five-match series, which precedes three Tests.

Spinner Robin Peterson returns to the squad after Johan Botha was banned for having an illegal action.

Batsman Loots Bosman, veterans Neil McKenzie and Roger Telemachus and spinner Thandi Tshabalala are all in the Twenty20 squad for the match in Johannesburg.

"After much consideration and careful debate, we have decided to rest players and select a different combination," said selector Haroon Lorgat.

"Both Neil and Roger are experienced players and have shown great form in our domestic Pro20 competition."

Justin Kemp, who is recovering from a shoulder injury faces a fitness test.

Cricket South Africa officials gave a vote of confidence to captain Graeme Smith after a tough tour of Australia, where they lost the Test series 2-0.

Chief executive Gerald Majola met Smith, coach Mickey Arthur and selector Haroon Lorgat on Friday.

"We wish to state that we have absolute confidence in Graeme's leadership and batting abilities," he said.

"With this talent and determination, we believe that Graeme and the Proteas can turn the tables in South Africa."

One-day squad: G Smith (capt), M Boucher, AB de Villiers, H Dippenaar, H Gibbs, A Hall, J Kemp, C Langeveldt, A Nel, M Ntini, R Peterson, S Pollock, A Prince, J van der Wath.

Twenty20 squad: G Smith (capt), L Bosman, AB de Villiers, H Gibbs, A Hall, J Kemp, N McKenzie, M Ntini, J Ontong, R Peterson, R Telemachus, T Tshabalala, J van der Wath.
