India captain Rahul Dravid is confident his team can pick themselves up for the five match one-day series after their Test series defeat by Pakistan. India were thrashed by 341 runs in the deciding final test on Wednesday.
But Dravid said: "The one-day series is a chance for us to make amends. We have learnt a lot from the Tests and hope that these lessons will help us.
"Playing Pakistan is a big motivation. We are in the process of developing our squad leading up to the World Cup."
The first one-dayer is due to be played in Peshawar on Monday and is followed by matches in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan and Karachi.
India freshen up their squad with batsman Mohammad Kaif, all-rounder Suresh Raina, left-arm spinner Murali Kartik and paceman Shanathakumarana Sreesanth.
Dravid hopes a different batting combination in the one-dayers will help his team return to winning ways.
"We did pretty well with the one-day combination against Sri Lanka and South Africa and hopefully we can carry that form into the one-day series against Pakistan," he said.
Pakistan vice-captain Younis Khan cautioned that the team's win in the Tests would count for nothing in the one-dayers.
"Limited-overs cricket is very different from Test matches - you need to be on your toes all the time," he said.
"I think the team which plays well on the day will win. There are no favourites
in the series."
