Dravid's side collapsed to their second-heaviest defeat |
Captain Rahul Dravid blamed India's failure to deal with the new ball for their third Test defeat to Pakistan. "The new ball was critical. Once they saw through the new ball they were set up for a big score," he said.
"The difference was in both innings we lost four or five wickets with the new ball and that put us under pressure.
"Kamran Akmal and Abdul Razzaq's partnership in the first innings really set the game up and they played better over four days."
Man of the match Akmal shared a stand of 115 with Razzaq to lift Pakistan from desperate peril at 39-6 on day one.
But despite Yuvraj Singh's century on day four, India could stage no such revival as they were out 341 runs short, their second-heaviest defeat ever by a runs margin.
India's bowlers grew weary after two Tests on batting-friendly pitches, with Dravid admitting, "Our bowlers have logged in quite a few overs but they batted well."
However, he has high hopes for some form of revenge in the five-match one-day series, which begins in Peshawar on Monday.
"It's a totally different competition, a different set of rules," the batsman added.
"We know we're playing against a very good side, especially at home so we have our work cut out for us.
"The spirit has been very good in the dressing-room through the Test series - I've been really happy with the effort the boys have put in."
