Pakistan are already working hard in the gym |
Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer believes they have the talent to burst England's "Ashes bubble" in November's Test series between the two sides. "England have done well but they have still to create that aura of invincibility of the West Indies of the 1970s and 80s and Australia recently.
"I think it's going to be a very hard fought series. We can pose a real challenge," said Woolmer.
England won the Test series on their last tour to Pakistan five years ago.
Woolmer has highly talented players at his disposal, although they still rely heavily on the batting ability and experience of skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq.
"The side which does well in all three departments will win the series and we have to be very disciplined against England, who have quality batsmen and bowlers.
"I am pleased with the strength and fitness of my team. We have been training for a month now and this has made it possible for us to compete very seriously," said Woolmer.
England had a lot of success against Australia with reverse swing, but Woolmer does not believe it will be such a significant factor against his side because a different make of ball will be used.
And he hinted that Pakistan could opt to play two front-line spinners, with Mushtaq Ahmed in line for a recall after another successful summer in county cricket with Sussex.
"If we decide to play two spinners, Mushtaq could be an option besides Danish Kaneria," he added.
England's tour squad will be announced at Lord's next Monday and they will arrive in Pakistan on 26 October.
The three Tests will be played at Multan, Faisalabad and Lahore, the first starting on 12 November.
