Holden is one of three players recalled |
All-rounders Nicky Shaw and Dawn Holden have been recalled to the England squad after a two-year absence to face New Zealand this summer. And Yorkshire's Laura Spragg is also back in a 14-strong group to play the World Cup holders in a five-match one-day series and a one-off Test.
"Recent England performances make it difficult for others to push for a place," said head coach Richard Bates.
The series begins with a Twenty20 international, at Hove on 5 August.
"We've got a fantastic summer of cricket to look forward to and I'm personally delighted to be kicking off the season at my home ground," said England captain Clare Connor.
"Last year we played our first ever floodlit match and this year will be the first ever international Twenty20.
"These matches are brilliant to be part of and we love playing in them, plus they bring a new audience to women's cricket."
The NatWest Women's Series will be England's last before they head to South Africa in February 2005 for the IWCC Women's World Cup. Bates paid credit to the Super Fours tournament, which pits the leading players in regional sides, for increasing the competition for England places.
The 2004 Super Fours concluded last weekend, with the V Team, captained by Laura Newton, clinching the title.
