Former Test batsman Brendon Kuruppu has been named as Sri Lanka's team manager for the tour to Pakistan in October and November. He will deputise for Ajit Jayasekera, who has been given time off after holding the job for four years.
But Jayasekera is expected to re-apply when a new full-time appointment is made later this year.
Sri Lanka will play a triangular one-day series in Pakistan, also involving Zimbabwe, and two Tests.
They will then travel on to Bangladesh for three one-day internationals, the first on 10 November, and two Tests.
Kuruppu scored an unbeaten 201 on debut against New Zealand in 1987, but only won four Test caps in total.
