The timing of Hamilton's injury could hardly have been worse |
Durham all-rounder Gavin Hamilton is facing up to two months out of action because of a thumb injury. Hamilton, who joined the club this summer, was struck on the thumb while fielding in last week's Championship fixture against Nottinghamshire.
"Although we didn't think much of it at first, a scan showed ligament damage," said coach Martyn Moxon.
"It is a big blow for us, especially considering the fact he was back bowling again after his problems."
Hamilton moved to Durham after 10 years on the Yorkshire staff.
His departure from Headingley followed a prolonged battle to overcome the 'yips' which meant he was unable to bowl.
But he took 3-30 in the season opener against Durham UCCE and is hopeful his problem are now behind him.
"I'm making good strides forward with my bowling. I've got a good direction, I know where I'm going with it and I'm happy with my batting, too," he recently told BBC Sport.
