New India role for Dalmiya
Jagmohan Dalmiya
Dalmiya was the former head of the International Cricket Council
Jagmohan Dalmiya has been appointed the first patron-in-chief of Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Dalmiya is to be replaced as president of the BCCI at the end of the month, but the new post may enable him to retain control of the board.

"It's always been in our constitution that we can appoint a patron or patrons," said Kamal Morarka, a board vice president.

"Dalmiya has been unanimously appointed for the next three years."

"The role we have envisaged for him is that we want Dalmiya to represent us in our dealings with the International Cricket Council," added Morarka.

"Last time during the World Cup and the Champions Trophy we had lots of problems with claims and counter claims over sponsorship and ambush marketing.

"We feel he is the best man to deal with such matters."
