India's Sachin Tendulkar will undergo state-of-the-art treatment in order to cure his tennis elbow in time for the Test series against Australia. "We're going to try this new shockwave treatment. It's the latest thing," India physio Andrew Leipus told the Sydney Morning Herald.
"It's localised treatment which works a little like an ultrasound.
"We've tried various approaches these last couple of weeks and it hasn't really worked."
Tendulkar, who injured himself during net practice in preparation for the series which begins in October, missed the recent Videocon Cup and the NatWest Challenge and is not taking part at the ICC Champions Trophy.
Leipus added he was confident Tendulkar's injury will heal, despite the slow progress. "It's been two steps forward and one step back every time we try and push it," he said.
"So we decided to give him two weeks' rest and gradually reintroduce him to batting.
"We've had a little improvement with it, so we're hopeful that with a bit more rest it should calm down."
