White led Australia to victory at the Under-19 World Cup in 2002 |
Australia have named young spinners Cameron White and Nathan Hauritz in their squad for next month's Test series in India. The pair will provide support for Shane Warne after being preferred to Stuart MacGill.
There are four uncapped players in the squad with batsman Michael Clarke and all-rounder Shane Watson also chosen.
Australia have not won a Test series in India since 1969-70 and were beaten 2-1 on their last visit in 2001.
"This is a well-rounded squad that gives us enormous flexibility and it's one that we're very pleased with and excited about.
"One of Australian cricket 's greatest challenges remains winning a Test series in India and we're confident that this squad will give us every opportunity to do so," said chief selector Trevor Hohns.
"We've selected three very different types of spinner in Shane Warne, Cameron White and Nathan Hauritz.

"While not a huge turner of the ball, Cameron generates significant bounce off the pitch and is very quick through the air, and it's a style of [leg-spin] bowling which has proved extremely effective on Indian wickets.
"In Nathan's case, we thought it sensible to include a finger spinner given the conditions and our history of including a finger spinner on our last two Indian tours."
The 16-man squad will arrive in India later this month and play a warm-up match in Hyderabad before beginning the four-match series in Bangalore on 6 October.
Paceman Brett Lee is in line to play his first Test since January after recovering from injury.
"He gives us the raw aggression and pace to complement the more defensive styles of Michael Kasprowicz, Jason Gillespie and Glenn McGrath."
