Vaughan's England will avoid Australia in the groups |
England will not play hosts West Indies, holders Australia or India in the group stages of the 2007 World Cup. Organisers opted to separate the teams before making a draw because of the logistics of transferring their large fan bases between venues.
The news comes as a boost to an England team trying to qualify to the knockout stages for the first time since 1992.
There will be four first round groups, with the top two from each progressing to a new Super 8 second round format.
World Cup organisers plan to reveal the eight venues later this summer in London and could build stadia in Fort Lauderdale, St Kitts, Antigua, Trinidad, Jamaica and Guyana for the event.
