Worcestershire's happy triumvirate - Solanki, Batty and Ali |
Kabir Ali and Vikram Solanki have been named in England's 14-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy in September.
All-rounders Rikki Clarke and Ian Blackwell have not been included though there is a place for Anthony McGrath.
Paceman Ali and opening batsman Solanki are joined by a third Worcestershire player in off-spinner Gareth Batty.
Chairman of selectors David Graveney said: "We spent a long time looking at our options because we didn't do ourselves justice earlier this season."
The Worcestershire trio have been drafted back into England's plans following a disappointing NatWest Series campaign.
The hosts failed to qualify for the final of their own competition, winning just one match.
Off-spinner Batty had been widely tipped to return after impressing during the one-day series in the Caribbean earlier this year.
Kabir and Solanki, on the other hand, looked to have been discarded from England's plans after failing to establish themselves over the past year.
Solanki scored a memorable century against South Africa at the Oval last summer, but was dropped after scoring only 11 runs in three innings in Bangladesh last winter.
He effectively replaces Robert Key, who failed to convince during this summer's tournament.
Kabir is recalled having failed to get onto the field in his only previous one-day international - the rain-affected match against Zimbabwe at Headingley in 2003.
But he has played one Test against South Africa and can also provide runs down the order. He takes over from fellow Asian seamer Sajid Mahmood.
The tournament could be a last chance saloon for Solanki |
Graveney said: "There are various options available to us with a number of young players on the fringes of the squad.
"The selectors discussed at length the way we want to play and we identified a need for more depth in our batting and an increase in mobility in our fielding.
"So we have recalled Vikram Solanki because he gives us options at the top of the order and is an outstanding fielder.
"He's been in fine form for his county in both forms of the game.
"Gareth Batty and Kabir Ali have also been in good form for Worcestershire and they give us options down the order.
"We're playing at the back end of the season and we may find ourselves on used wickets, so Batty gives us an extra spinning option."
