Heyhoe-Flint gains MCC role
Rachael Heyhoe-Flint is to become the first female MCC committee member.

Heyhoe-Flint, who played 22 Tests for England - 12 as captain - between 1960 and 1979, was one of the first women to be admitted to the Lord's club in 1999.

"It is a tremendous honour, and I am indebted to everyone who voted for me," she said.

"It's a particular pleasure to know that I'll be joining the committee at one of the most exciting times in the distinguished history of the club."

It was only in March 1999 that women members were permitted, bringing to an end 212 years of male exclusivity.

Along with three other new committee members, Heyhoe-Flint will take up the job on 1 October.
