South Africa eased to a comfortable six-wicket win over Northern Districts in their only warm-up match before the one-day series against New Zealand.

South Africa took just 17 overs to reach their target of 115, with Boeta Dippenaar top-scoring with 45 not out.

Northern Districts had struggled to 114 all out in 42 overs, with spinners Robin Peterson (3-17) and Nicky Boje (2-19) doing the damage.

South Africa meet New Zealand in the first of six matches on Friday.

Grant Robinson top-scored for Northern Districts with an unbeaten 35, while Test spinner Daniel Vettori, who opened the innings, scored 31.

The home side, who finished last in New Zealand's domestic one-day competition, contained five one-day international players in Vettori, Scott Styris, Hamish Marshall, Daryl Tuffey and Ian Butler.

South Africa rested Shaun Pollock, Jacques Kallis and Andre Nel, but will need to improve their fielding with three catches going to ground.
