Shabbir is held in high regard by his bosses at the PCB |
Pakistan are confident Shabbir Ahmed will be available for next month's series against India after working on his action in Australia. The pace bowler, who was reported in New Zealand in January, has been working with a specialist in Perth.
"He is working with experts like Daryl Foster who have helped Shoaib Akhtar in the past," said spokesman Samiul Hasan.
Shabbir has been asked to return home by the end of February, shortly before India's arrival.
The 27-year-old has been reported three times for a suspect action, including once after his one-day debut against West Indies in 1999.
But Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, does not believe Pakistan's pace attack poses the same threat without Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.

"Pakistan does not have bowlers of the class of Akram and Waqar Younis. You worry about reverse swing when the ball moves both ways like Akram was able to do," he said.

India will not take a bowling coach with them on tour.
There had been speculation that former Test paceman Javagal Srinath would replace Australian Bruce Reid, who had declined to go to Pakistan.
But Jagmohan Dalmiya, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, said the issue had never been discussed.
Ratnakar Shetty has been appointed as India's team manager.
