World cricket's governing body says an investigation is still ongoing into the discovery of cash in Sri Lanka batsman Marvan Atapattu's hotel room. Reports suggesting Atapattu had been cleared were dismissed by ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed.
"Marvan is a widely respected and senior player and it is important that this matter is thoroughly investigated," Speed said.
A sum of 6,500 was discovered after December's Test against England.
The opening batsman denied the cash was his, saying other people had stayed there, but no one has claimed it.

Two members of the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) are currently in Sri Lanka to investigate the affair. Speed said he has written to Sri Lanka Cricket to find out it had issued any media statement suggesting that the matter had been concluded.
He added: "If, as has been reported, Sri Lanka Cricket issued a statement suggesting that this matter has been finalised, I would be concerned."
"Not only is it inaccurate to make this suggestion, it is also inappropriate for a board to usurp the role of the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit."
Atapattu is a senior member of the Sri Lanka side, with 68 Test caps and 201 one-day internationals appearances.
