Lawson has been hindered by back trouble |
Pace bowler Jermaine Lawson's return to the West Indies team has been delayed after he was left out of the Jamaica squad for the start of the season. Lawson's bowling action was reported as illegal during a Test match in May.
His return has been hindered by a back injury, which restricted him to three overs on his return to action in a trial match last weekend.
And the 21-year-old was left out of the country's 16-man squad for the beginning of the Carib Beer Series.
In seven Tests, Lawson has 29 wickets at an average of 24.5, including 7-78 against Australia in the match that saw him reported.
Jamaica were also forced to omit pace bowler Jerome Taylor, who is also suffering a back problem, and returned home from the recent West Indies tour of Zimbabwe.
Currently in South Africa, West Indies begin a four-Test series at home to England in March.
