Scotland aim to earn a place among the big boys next September |
Former spinner Andy Tennant has joined Scotland's coaching staff ahead of the ICC Emerging Nations tournament. He will work as assistant to head coach Tony Judd as the squad prepares for next February's event in Dubai.
The Scots are among six teams taking part, with the winners of qualifying for the ICC Champions Trophy to be played in England later in the year.
"I'll hit the ground running as I've been in an around the set-up for quite some time," said Tennant.
He made 20 appearances for Scotland during his playing career after making his debut against Holland in 1994.
The Dutch will be among their rivals in Dubai, along with the United Arab Emirates, Namibia and Canada.
The sixth and final team has yet to be confirmed.
"The plan is to have taken every player through at least 50 hours of training over the winter to ensure they are fully ready for the task in Dubai," said Judd.
"It's going to be a really hard tournament and all of the players and coaching staff will be doing everything in their power to be ready for the challenge out there."
