Chapple stars for Lancashire
County Championship D1, Old Trafford, day two (stumps): Warwickshire 190-8; Lancashire 575-6 dec.

Glenn Chapple hit a century and took 4-41 as Warwickshire came under the cosh against the team placed third in division one.

Chapple featured in a stand of 228 for the sixth wicket with the brilliant Stuart Law (236 not out).

That stand set up a declaration at lunch and Warwickshire struggled to last the final two sessions in the day.

Ian Bell (46) was the visiting team's top-scorer as he hung around to see out 119 deliveries.

But he was one of Chapple's quartet of victims on a day when Warren Hegg, with five catches, also enjoyed plenty of success.

By the close Dougie Brown (31 not out) was battling away with Waqar Younis but Warwickshire may well be following on before lunch on Friday.

Lancashire: A J Swann, I J Sutcliffe, M B Loye, S G Law, M J Chilton, C L Hooper, G Chapple, W K Hegg (Capt, Wkt), P J Martin, J Wood, G Keedy.

Warwickshire: N V Knight, M J Powell (Capt), M A Wagh, I R Bell, J O Troughton, T Frost (Wkt), D R Brown, N M K Smith, N M Carter, A Richardson, Waqar Younis.
