County Championship D1, Southgate, day one (close): Warwickshire 315-7 v MiddlesexWarwickshire's Namibia World Cup coach Dougie Brown led his side back from a worrying start with an explosive century against Middlesex at Southgate.
Brown hit 17 fours in a knock of 113, and shared a partnership of 209 with wicket-keeper Tony Frost, who added 84.
Earlier, Warwickshire had spluttered to 45-3 as the top three batsmen all succumbed tamely.
Ian Bell (31) and Jim Troughton (37) eventually provided some stiffer resistance and softened up the home side's bowlers, paving the way for Brown and Frost.
The pair were eventually both out for the addition of no runs with the score on 309.
Australian seamer Ashley Noffke was the pick of the Middlesex bowlers with 3-53 off 23 overs.
