England v SA as it happened
Latest: England 199-6 (39 overs) v South Africa 198-9

England win by four wickets and claim a bonus point against South Africa in the day/night match at Edgbaston.

The hosts stuttered over the finishing line, losing Michael Vaughan and Rikki Clarke while in sight of victory, but were never in danger of losing.

Vaughan top-scored with 83 while Clarke contributed a crucial 37 runs, following Andrew Flintoff's whirwind, but controlled, 54 off 36 balls.

Earlier in the day, James Anderson grabbed four wickets, including three in nine balls, but England loosened their grip after reducing the visitors to 104-7.

Latest action:

40th over: England win with a wide off the first ball of Hall's over.

39th over: Clarke drives for four to level the scores. He looks to sweep the winning runs but is out, lbw to Adams, for 37. England 198-6.

38th over: Vaughan is out, for a confidence-boosting 83, lbw to Hall playing no stroke. England 194-5.

37th over: Adams concedes another boundary off his first ball before sending down five dot balls.

36th over: There are less fireworks than in the previous over, and no boundaries, but England are closing in on victory and a bonus point.

35th over: Vaughan takes a step down the wicket to Adams and hoists the ball back over the bowler's head for four.

Clarke follows his captain's lead and hits consecutive fours on either side of the wicket, passing his previous best score of 23 and taking the partnership beyond 50.

31st over: Vaughan passes the 63 he made against India in Kuttack 18 months ago with his 12th boundary, another classy cut.

30th over: Just two come off Hall's over, leaving Vaughan one short of his highest one-day score.

29th over: After a two-over break, Nel returns, striking Clarke in the midriff before the new batsman gets off the mark running a wider ball through point.

Clark hooks in similar style to Flintoff but it beats the fielder in the deep and goes over the rope for six. His next shot is far classier, a pull through midwicket to take the total for the over to 14.

28th over: Vaughan ends Hall's second over with a cut that flies to the boundary.

27th over: Flintoff crashes Ntini down the ground to bring up the 100 partnership but is out next ball, top-edging an injudicious hook to Adams at deep backward square leg, his 54 taking just 40 balls. England 130-4.

22nd over: The infamous "frog in a blender" Paul Adams joins the attack to bowl left-arm chinamen. He allows four singles.

6th over: Vaughan gets off the mark with a wonderful pulled four off Ntini but plays and misses with an attempted cut.

5th over: Trescothick survives an appeal by Pollock thanks to a slim edge but he cannot last the over, edging the former SA captain to Hall at slip. England 11-2.
