Tour match, Brisbane, day one of three: Australian Cricket Academy 258-3 dec; Bangladesh 53-1 (at close) Mohammad Rafique ended a stubborn third wicket stand |
Matthew Innes compiled an unbeaten 128 as the Bangladesh attack's limitations were exposed at Allan Border Field. Innes, who will be 19 on the second day of the match, hit two sixes and 17 fours in almost five hours at the crease.
The tourists enjoyed early success as Mashrafe bin Mortaza bowled Scott Meuleman for a single and Tareq Aziz had Academy skipper Aaron Nye caught behind for 10.
But Rhett Lockyear joined Innes in a third wicket stand of 180, only to fall 10 runs short of his century when he was stumped by Khaled Mashud off left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafique.
All the Bangladeshi seamers bowled tidily, but lacked penetration following the two early breakthroughs and that will be a worry for coach Dav Whatmore ahead of the two Tests against Australia.
Following the home side's declaration, Bangladesh made a solid start in the 19 overs left before close of play.
They lost Hannan Sarkar in the 10th over, lbw to Chris Duval for eight, but Javed Omar Sarkar and Habibul Bashar prevented any further damage.
Omar was 32 not out at the close, having struck six boundaries, with Bashar on 13.
