Australia have played almost non-stop since August |
Australia have pulled out of a cricket tour to Morocco because of safety concerns. The Australian Cricket Board confirmed the limited-overs tour, set for August and September, had been cancelled.
The decision was made after the players showed their reluctance to tour Morocco after 43 people were killed in a series of bomb blasts in Casablanca earlier this month.
There were also concerns over player burnout because of the amount of cricket the team has played.
The ACB has told tournament organisers, the Sharjah-based Cricket Benefit Fund Series, it remains interested in future tournaments.
Australian Cricketers' Association chief executive Tim May told BBC Sport: "Our initial concerns were about workload - that is something we have been discussing with the ACB for the last four or five months." "Security is a relatively new issue but it has grown in importance following the bomb in Casablanca."
Currently on tour in West Indies, Australia have been playing virtually non-stop since August last year, their schedule including victorious Ashes and World Cup campaigns.
They will have a short break when they return home next month before starting preparations for the historic home series with Bangladesh in July and August.
