John Wright commands huge respect among the Indian players |
India coach John Wright has had his contract extended for two months to take in a triangular one-day tournament in Bangladesh starting in April. The New Zealander's three-year term was due to end after the World Cup, but he expressed his desire to continue after India reached the final of the tournament.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the decision to extend Wright's contract had been taken on an ad hoc basis.
After the series in Bangladesh, starting on 11 April and also including South Africa, India are out of action until the home series against New Zealand in October.
"I have always enjoyed working with the Indian team. It has been a very good experience," Wright said after India were beaten in the World Cup final by Australia.
The contracts of team physio Andrew Leipus and physical trainer Adrian Le Roux were also due to expire, but no developments were revealed by the BCCI.
